What Are Cookie Pops?
Cookie pops are sandwich cookies such as Oreos, dipped in chocolate, and held by a lollypop stick. For my recipe, I’ve used the original chocolate and cream flavor. However, you can use whatever brand or flavor you have in your kitchen!
Tips for Making Nightmare Before Christmas Cookie Pops
- First, be sure that your chocolate is fully melted. You don’t want any lumps in your melted chocolate before you start dipping the cookies for a smooth finish to your cookie pop.
- Next, if your chocolate is too hot, it will begin to melt the sandwich cookie filling, be sure you give it just a little time to cool before dipping.
- Lastly, don’t forget to chill your chocolate-covered cookies before decorating. The chilled cookies are easier to decorate and hold their shape better. This is also helpful if you make a mistake and need to wipe off the cookie with a paper towel or even re-dip it if necessary.
- Allergy-Friendly Tip: To make these pops allergy-friendly, I use my favorite vegan brand, King David White Chocolate, Oreo Cookies are accidentally vegan and there are now Gluten-Free Oreo options available, the Vegetable Shortening is completely vegan as well. These cookie pops are easily customized to fit most top allergies.
Storing and Sharing
You can store your Nightmare Before Christmas Cookie Pops on the counter in a zip-top bag or an airtight container. For prolonged storage, you can keep it in a refrigerator for 3 months or a freezer for roughly 6 months. Although, it’s best to refrigerate them for a day and wrap them tightly before placing them in the freezer. Sharing is recommended but is, however, optional.

Nightmare Before Christmas Cookie Pops
Ingredients
- 1 cup White Chocolate Chips melted
- 2 tsp Vegetable Shortening melted
- 10 – 12 Sandwich Cookies (such as Oreo Cookies)
- 0.67 oz tube Black Food Writing Gel
- 10 – 12 Lollypop Sticks
Instructions
- Melt 1 cup White Chocolate Chips and 2 tsp Vegetable Shortening. You can use the microwave, just be sure to stir in 30-second intervals to keep the white chocolate from burning.
- Gently open a sandwich cookie. Coat the end of the lollypop stick with some chocolate for glue and place it in the center of the cookie. Close back the sandwich cookie and give the chocolate "glue" a few minutes to secure it before moving on to the next step.
- Grab a sandwich cookie pop and dip it into the melted white chocolate covering it completely. Shake off the excess white chocolate leaving a smooth finish and place onto wax paper to set. Chill your white chocolate-coated cookie pops for 3-5 minutes in the refrigerator before decorating.
- Once the white chocolate has set, remove your cookie pops from the refrigerator and place them onto a flat plate for decorating. Use the 0.67 oz tube Black Food Writing Gel and your best artistic abilities to draw a spooky Skellington face on your cookie pops. Let set for 10 – 15 minutes before serving so the black food gel firms up. Enjoy!
